Money Matters Project officially launched.
Mr Calum Kerr MP for Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk officially opened the Money Matters services at Momentums Galashiels office.
The launch was attended by a host of people which included Momentum Staff, those people who use the services, and people from other local services. Momentum has been providing assistance to those how live in the Boarders since 2003 and provide help and support to over a 100 services users every year.
The service will provide much needed support for the hundreds of people who suffer a brain injury or neurological condition in the Boarders alone.
Speaking at the Event Harry Wood, Manager at the Galashiels office emphasised that the service is increasingly important as manage your money is an essential life skill and a key part of living independently
This service will make a real difference, and enable people to take more control over their lives, which was highlighted by a lovely comment about the project from someone it had already helped:
‘Recently I have been supported by Debbi and Tracy, part of the Money Matters Project, which has changed my life considerably. Tracy has helped me to clear my debts and devised a budget for me, Debbie has not only discovered that I haven’t been in receipt of as much benefit as I am entitled to but also helped me to claim financial assistance with removal costs and essential items for me new home. I am still in the process of unpacking as I only moved house on Monday-but life is looking up. Thank you!’
